Mullingar man, Bernard O’Farrell and Cork man Greg Mulcahy have won the first prize in the HSE elder abuse short film competition entitled Open Your Eyes – Open Your Lens. The purpose of the short film competition was to raise awareness of the issue of elder abuse. The HSE invited the public to submit a short film of between 30 to 60 seconds in duration to YouTube based on the theme Open Your Eyes – Open Your Lens.

The Carlow/Kilkenny Champions for Older People team will host its third public information day next Tuesday, September 30 to coincide with National Positive Ageing Week, which runs from September 26 to October 4.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is seeking volunteers to help with its flag day collection which will take place in Galway city on Saturday August 15. Any amount of time given to the fundraising effort would be appreciated.
